Legal Notices
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 12 November 2025
1. Purpose and Commitment
The Wise Counselor is designed to provide faith-based responses while respecting your privacy. We are committed to collecting only the information necessary to understand general usage and improve the service, while protecting user anonymity.
2. Information We Collect
We collect a minimal set of information to understand general traffic patterns and chatbot activity.
Specifically:
Chat Inputs: User messages are processed by trusted third-party APIs (OpenAI and Chatbase) to generate responses.
Squarespace Analytics: We collect non-identifiable traffic data, including country, state/province, city, visits, unique visitors, page views, operating system, and browser type.
Chatbase Metrics: We collect basic chatbot usage data, including message count, country, and date created.
No Personal Accounts: We do not request or store names, emails, or any identifying information.
3. How We Use Chat Data
Chats are logged, but not read individually.
Before analysis, all chat data is anonymized, removing or generalizing any personal details.
The anonymized data is subsequently summarized using AI tools to identify broad themes and user needs for improving The Wise Counselor’s experience.
After summarization, the original chat data is permanently deleted from our systems and from Chatbase at regular intervals.
4. No Commercial Use
Chat content and usage data are not sold, shared, or reused for marketing or advertising. Anonymized summaries are used solely to enhance The Wise Counselor’s design and accuracy.
5. Data Retention
Anonymized summaries may be retained for reference in ongoing product development.
Original chat data is deleted after summarization or within 30 days, whichever occurs first.
You may request deletion at any time by contacting ricardomentors+WC@gmail.com.
6. Third-Party Processing
OpenAI and Chatbase process data temporarily to generate and log responses. Squarespace collects aggregate site analytics. Each provider maintains its own privacy and security policies governing how data is handled during transmission and storage.
7. Updates
This policy will evolve as we refine our privacy safeguards and summarization process. We encourage users to check this page periodically for the latest version.
